Message by United Seychelles party president, Dr Patrick Herminie on the occasion of World Day of Social Justice |21 February 2024

‘We should remain adamant in our resolve to protect what we have achieved in terms of human development’

“The United Seychelles Party joins the rest of the world to celebrate World Day of Social Justice, which is marked on February 20 every year.

“My fellow Seychellois, at this juncture in our history we should reflect on solutions to curb social injustice that is increasing in our nascent democracy since the Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) government came to power. Equity is on the decline while poverty and social inequality are alarmingly on the rise due to implementation of decisions and policies that have not been thoroughly analysed by the LDS government.

“We should remain adamant in our resolve to protect what we have achieved in terms of human development during the past 43 years under the administration of the United Seychelles party’s predecessors.

“One of the core values of the United Seychelles party is to put humans at the centre of development. However, under the current LDS administration money and partisan politics take priority over people! Our fore fathers under the banner of the Seychelles People United Party (SPUP) fought tooth and nail to build an equitable society where every Seychellois would benefit from equal rights and opportunities. The United Seychelles party strongly believes that never should we allow ourselves to regress nor lose what we have gained as a nation, just to gratify the incompetence and greed of a small group of people.

“To conclude, I would like to reassure the Seychellois people that change for a better society is coming soon as the United Seychelles party remains the only option for governing the country towards unity and prosperity. Keep the hope alive.”
