Caleb Vadivello clocks PB to win Mauritius African Games Trial

 

Sprinter Caleb Vadivello clocked a personal best time of 48.67 seconds to finish first in the 400m race at the Mauritius African Games Trial held during the weekend at the Maryse Justin Stadium in Réduit.

Vadivello, along with three other athletes – Don Wirtz, Neil Azemia, and Denzel Adam – are presently attending a training camp in Mauritius as part of their preparations for the forthcoming 13th African Games, scheduled to take place in Ghana from March 8-23, 2024.

As for Azemia, he finished fifth in the race, clocking 51.27 seconds.

Wirtz, who is still a junior athlete, threw the hammer a distance of 41 metres to finish first in his category, while in 100m, Adam could only manage a fourth place finish, clocking 11.03 seconds. The race was won by Mauritian superstar Noa Bibi in 10.35 seconds.

In the 200m race, Adam settled for fifth-place finish in 22-18 seconds, with Mauritian Noah Bibi winning in 20.78 seconds.

The athletes are being accompanied by coaches Giovanni Fanny and Joseph Volcy.
