Remand inmate detained with active mobile phone.

Remand inmate Marcus Denis Julienne was on Thursday February 15, 2024, detained by officers from the prison security unit at Seychelles Prison Services’ Montagne Posée prison, after he was found in possession of a mobile telephone.

Julienne was confronted a day prior by a number of inmates who alleged that he was carrying out illegal activities on a mobile phone.

 The confiscated active mobile telephone will be handed over to the police as part of the investigation process. 

Depending on the outcome of the investigation, additional charges against remand Julienne may be forthcoming. He has been remanded in custody since November 7, 2023, and is suspected of damaging property and stealing from vehicle.

In the meantime, remand Julienne will be transferred to Seychelles Prison Services’ (SPS) Bois de Rose detention remand facility.

Julienne, 42, has been convicted and sentenced to prison on multiple occasions in the past.
