Angelina Smythe clocks PB to finish fourth in her heat

 

Competing with the world’s elites, Seychellois swimmer Angelina Smythe managed to swim her personal best time to finish fourth in her 100m freestyle heat at the ongoing World Aquatics Championships 2024 in Doha, Qatar.

Competing in heat number one of nine, Smythe clocked 1 minute 03.66 seconds (1:03.66) which is also her personal best (PB) time.

At the championships, Smythe also competed in the 100m backstroke clocking 1:10.37 to finish second in heat number one of six.

Today, Adam Moncherry will be in action in the 50m freestyle, his second event, after competing in the 50m butterfly, where he finished fifth in heat number three of seven after clocking 25.40 seconds.

Seychelles’ last swimmer in the pool at the competition is Aaliyah Palestrini who will compete in the 50m freestyle tomorrow.

Palestrini previously competed in the 50m backstroke where she finished first in heat number one of six, in 32.07 seconds.

Seychelles’ other swimmers at the championships are Dorianne Bristol (open water - 5km), Damien Payet (open water - 5km), Thierry Payet (open water - 5km), and Simon Bachmann (200m individual medley and 200m butterfly).

They are being accompanied by coach Robert Suzette, while chairperson of the Seychelles Aquatic Federation (SAF) Muriel Morgan joined the team after attending the extraordinary general congress of Africa Aquatics, which took place simultaneously with the championships.
