Airtel joins Seychelles’ 2025 Beach Soccer World Cup preparations
Local telecommunications company Airtel Seychelles has partnered with the country’s national beach selection in their preparations for the historical World Cup 2025 which will take place on home soil.
Last week, Airtel Seychelles handed over two sets of training kits to the national selection who are presently in Dubai, taking part in pre-Beach Soccer World Cup events following the invitation of the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (Fifa).
The gesture is part of Airtel Seychelles’ commitment to the country for the upcoming 2025 Beach Soccer World Cup.
It was brand and marketing manager Jude Valmont who handed over the kit to the team in the presence of chief executive of the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) Denis Rose, representative of beach soccer on the SFF executive committee Philip Sinon, and team manager George Bibi.
It is a known fact that for the past 25 years of itsexistence, Airtel Seychelles has been heavily involved in supporting the development of sports in the country.
This has been in countless ways, including the Rising Star Football Programme for the youths, Airtel Praslin Slalom, Airtel Golf Cup to the popular Airtel Football Cup.
It is to note that for the past two years Airtel Seychelles has stepped up a notch with a more active engagement towards supporting the country’s sport at a national level.
Last year,Airtel supported the basketball national teamand the whole of Team Seychelles during the Indian Ocean Islands Games (IOIG) in Madagascar where athletes and officials received a free SIM card and a complete mobile package to keep in touch with their families and friends and most importantly, to keep the people informed in regards to their results.
Mr Valmont said Airtel is excited to be once again part of history, precisely of the Seychelles 2025 World Cup frenzy.
“We have been heavily involved in supporting the development of athletesand sports in general in Seychelles and we will continue to do so for many years to come,” said Mr Valmont, adding that Airtel is an international brand that cares for people and is looking forward to see the nation come together as one for one reason, which is to support Team Seychelles in their historical quest at their first ever World Cup.
“We believe in our sportsmen and we wish them all the best in their preparations leading to the World Cup,” said Mr Valmont on behalf of chief executive Eddy Kapuku and all Airtel staff.
On behalf of the SFF, Mr Rose thanked Airtel for its contribution which he said came ata timely manner.
This, he said, shows the company’s commitment to local footballers and towards Seychelles’ football as a whole.
The Seychelles delegation consisting of 18 players and six officials left for Dubai last Friday and will return on February 16.
Apart from some incidental expenses paid by the SFF, all major costs including airfares, local transportation, board and lodging is being borne by Fifa.
