Minister Joubert takes part in India Energy Week 2024 in Goa |08 February 2024

The India Energy Week 2024, organised by the Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas of India, stands as a premier event in the energy sector, drawing in over 30 ministerial speakers, 350 exhibitors, 400 conference speakers, and more than 35,000 energy professionals and 4,000 conference delegates from 120 countries.

Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 6, 2024, this event serves as a focal point for discussions on global energy dynamics.

Invited by Shri Hardeep S. Puri, Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Housing, and Urban Affairs of the Government of India, Minister Flavien Joubert, representing the Ministry of Agriculture, Climate Change, and Environment of the Republic of Seychelles, led a delegation including Joel Valmont, chief executive of Public Utilities Corporation (PUC), and Bernice Charles, acting chief executive of the Seychelles Energy Commission.

The Seychellois delegation's involvement in the India Energy Week (IEW) 2024 builds upon the extensive dialogues held during India's G20 presidency and aims to advance discussions on the commitments made at COP28.

Minister Joubert and his team are set to engage in various sessions, including the plenary session focusing on accelerating action on energy security, climate commitments, and fostering a reliable and affordable energy market. Furthermore, Minister Joubert was slated to contribute to the closed-door ‘Global South Ministerial Energy Roundtable’ panel discussion yesterday. Seychelles is also an active participant in discussions within the Global Biofuels Alliance.

The inaugural India Energy Week took place last year in Bengaluru from February 6-8, 2023, with Jean-François Ferrari, Minister for Blue Economy and Fisheries of Seychelles, leading a two-member delegation from the country.
