UAE remains a unique symbol for human fraternity and coexistence

“On the occasion of International Day of Human Fraternity – an initiative of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) – the country celebrates the spirit of unity and solidarity that binds us together as one human family.

With this concept, the UAE has been a unique and global symbol of human fraternity and coexistence, leading the charge in establishing the foundations of tolerance – both at home and abroad.

“The UAE’s celebration of the international occasion highlights the country’s commitment to strengthening international collaboration and preserving the values of tolerance and unity, following the signing of the Human Fraternity Document in Abu Dhabi in 2019.

“This project has since become a global initiative supported by the President, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

“The UAE has consistently been at the forefront of countries advocating for coexistence and peace. Over the years, the country has made giant strides in promoting brotherhood and tolerance through legislation, laws, and initiatives.

“The International Day of Human Fraternity presents an important occasion for the UAE to showcase its pride in its remarkable achievements in fostering peace, coexistence, and harmony among different cultures.

“Tolerance remains a defining characteristic of the nation and a shining example of how different cultures can come together in harmony. The UAE launched initiatives aimed at consolidating the foundations of coexistence, tolerance, and harmony between different societies, cultures, and religions.

“The UAE is home to over 200 nationalities and multiple faith communities in a peaceful and secure environment. Additionally, the UAE reflected on different occasions that has brought hundreds of countries of different cultures and religions together in a testament that intellectual, cultural, and religious diversity is a source of prosperity and strength.

“The UAE believes in the importance of fostering cohesion, building resilience, and encouraging unity within communities to promote reconciliation among peoples.

“Furthermore, the UAE underscored that strategies of peace operations must be designed to encourage diverse local communities to own and build peace together, engaging with a variety of local actors to better address their needs. They also stressed that promoting sustainable and effective peacebuilding requires a coordinated and integrated multilateral response.”
