LDS congratulates Seychelles’ CPI ranking |01 February 2024

Linyon Demokratik Seselwa has congratulated everyone involved in improving Seychelles’ ranking on the International’s Corruption Perception Index for the year 2023.

A statement released by Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) political party yesterday reads:

“The 20th position out of 180 countries with a Corruption Perception Index (CPI) score of 71 out of 100 is a remarkable achievement.

“Seychelles’ ranking means it is rubbing shoulder with both France and Britain which both colonised our territory in the past. Now our national ambition should be to do better than both countries and many others just like we are leading among the 54 African Union member states.

“LDS takes note of the contribution of each and every Seychellois professional who have contributed one way or another in giving Seychelles its highest score since the ranking was revamped in 2012. Special mention goes to key state institutions including: the Anti-Corruption Commission Seychelles (ACCS), the Cabinet of Ministers, the National Assembly, the judiciary, the Office of the Auditor General, the Ministry of Finance, National Planning and Trade, the police and the Attorney-General’s chambers among others.

“Special mention also goes to the civil society sector, most notably Transparency Initiative Seychelles.

“LDS is satisfied that Seychelles is heading in the right direction.

“Our continued climb on the index shows that both the private sector and economic experts appreciate the efforts being made to improve the public sector performance especially through the Government’s legislative agenda and policies.

“We give our commitment and engagement as the ruling party to keep on promoting the rule of law and zero tolerance to any corrupt practices.

“LDS firmly believes in accountability, good governance and transparency when it comes to managing Seychellois taxpayers’ money on their behalf.

“LDS will support any home-grown initiative in establishing Seychelles as a corruption-free country.”
