‘2024 is all about growing and aiming higher’ – Cheris Benstrong of Vanilla Cocoa |04 January 2024
2023 was a successful year for Cheris Benstrong, 21, whose skin care products, which started as a social experiment in February 2021, hit the market with a bang. Cheris is the founder and creator of Vanilla Cocoa. The laboratory technician had experienced bad skin problems throughout her teens, as a result of medical issues. This led her to experiment with oils and home ingredients to ease her dry and bad skin.
“Everything that carried me throughout my A-levels was homemade self-care to treat my skin due to stress at school.”
The experiment, which went on for two years to identify the ideal products for the customers, finally bore fruits in 2023. Vanilla Cocoa is not just a business, but a brand, said Cheris, who does not only sell her products online but advises many Seychellois, with the same predicament, although they do not necessarily buy her items.
“I am glad I finally stepped out with my local homemade products in 2023.”
Cheris’ New Year resolution is about intensifying service for the customers and increasing research to benefit all skin types. The long-term plan is to open a shop to interact with customers.
