Beryl Dodin recognised for her kindness and compassion |22 December 2023
Beryl Dodin, the founder and chairperson of the ‘Kindness and Compassion Foundation’, has been awarded with the Kindness Champion Award by the World Kindness Movement, based in Australia.
This is in recognition of her outstanding achievements in promoting kindness within the community.
The award was emailed to her on December 14, 2023.
Mrs Dodin was inspired to be an advocate of living values as early as 9 years old and later as a teacher in 1985 where she started promoting compassion among students with social issues in her class.
She is presently working as a principal counsellor with the Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) after being a teacher for many years with the Ministry of Education and a counsellor with the Seychelles National Youth council (SNYC).
Speaking to the media at the Petit Seminaire, Mrs Dodin said she was very happy and proud to have received the award, which symbolises her countless efforts to help children, and adults, share her kindness and compassion.
“This award means a lot to me. It shows there are people who appreciate what I am doing. As an international award that connects me with other kindness champions worldwide, it will open the door for people overseas to seek my help,” said Mrs Dodin, noting the award will no doubt further motivate her to continue making a difference in the lives of people in the community.
The ‘Kindness and Compassion Foundation’ was officially launched on October 2020 at the SNYC headquarters, ex-Sacos Tower, Victoria.
Following her interview with the media, Mrs Dodin on behalf of the ‘Kindness and Compassion Foundation’, presented a cheque for R10,000 to the Petit Seminaire, to assist the Cascade residents being sheltered there following the recent explosion at the Civil Construction Company Limited (CCCL).
The cheque was presented to Maryvonne Gabriel, in the presence of Gerard Linsam, a member of Kindness and Compassion Foundation.
