New Chinese ambassador to Seychelles accredited

Ms Lin presents her credentials to President Ramkalawan

        Commits to strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation

 

The newly accredited Chinese ambassador to Seychelles, Lin Nan, has officially stepped in to take over from her predecessor who left in 2022.

In an accreditation ceremony held yesterday morning at State House, where she presented her credentials to President Wavel Ramkalawan, the new ambassador stated that she had a very “nice talk” with the President whereby many issues were discussed.

She noted that both China and Seychelles have much respect and trust for each other. “China will continue to cooperate with Seychelles to continue to enhance the relations and traditional friendship. That will be my mission to Seychelles.”

Speaking about her experience, Ms Lin shared she has been working in the foreign ministry for 30 years, and has spent a long time in the protocol department. During her much recent tenures, she was posted in Washington D.C, United States of America, as well as working as the general council in Barcelona, Spain.

In terms of any future projects or plans, Ms Lin noted that some projects were discussed and some will move along steadily.

She added there are many areas where the two sides hope to enhance namely, tourism, fisheries and blue economy, education and health.

“We will strengthen the people to people exchanges that is the base of our relationship. We will support each other in many international affairs,” concluded the ambassador.

Ambassador Lin also called on Vice-President Ahmed Afif.
