Prison service employee caught with contraband at Montagne Posée prison |15 December 2023

A male staff member of the Seychelles Prison Service (SPS) has been detained and handed over to the police after he was caught with contraband at the Montagne Posée prison earlier this week.

The staff member was detained at around 0720hrs on Wednesday this week after check by officers of the Prison Security Unit (PSU) found approximately 91 grammes of suspected cannabis resin concealed on his person.

The member of staff employed as a cook and assigned to Kitchen Unit at the SPS Montagne Posée prison was detained and handed over to the Seychelles Police.

A press release from the SPS notes that as of November 28, 2023, internal reassignments of staff and key changes to areas of operations have been under way so as to address deficiencies and improve on efficiencies.
