The Premium Spikers’ players during the response and relief efforts

Following the explosion at Cascade and the flooding and landslides that hit the northern region on Thursday evening, local volleyball team Premium Spikers joined the Red Cross Society of Seychelles in its response and relief efforts, especially in distributing supplies such as bed sheets, food and toiletries.

The team, led by player Dilan Bastienne, who is also a member of the Red Cross Society of Seychelles (RCSS), was also responsible to collect all the donations around the island.

Well-known players in the likes of Ricky Vel, Gerry Lozaique, Ian Furneau, and Wilbert Payet were all involved in the noble cause, illustrating how sports, other than being an entertainment, can also contribute in helping the community, especially in times of need.

According to Bastienne, in a situation like this, everyone who can should come forward and give a helping hand in bringing some comfort to those that have been affected, while the other players involved expressed their happiness and sense of satisfaction, vouching their future involvement whenever there is the need.
