Airtel states its position on local talent’s exit
Airtel Seychelles has said that as Title Sponsors of The Voice Africa, it was not permitted by the terms of its contract “to interfere with the show or interact with the talents at all”.
The company issued a press statement late on Sunday evening, following an announcement by local artist Clive Camille earlier in the day that he was pulling out of the ‘knockout’ stage of the singing competition, taking place in Nigeria.
Airtel Seychelles’ head of Brands & Marketing Communication, Jude Valmont, stated that the company did engage the production company, Fame, and the original rights owners, ITV, to investigate, when they heard that there may be an issue.
“In keeping with the letters and spirit of the contract, we, therefore, would request that all enquiries should be directed to Fame and ITV who are better positioned to comment on the show and its workings.”
“We commend Clive for getting to this stage and regret he had to exit the competition,” read the statement.
On Monday, Seychelles NATION wrote an article about Clive’s decision to pull out of the competition citing “unfavorable competing conditions and unreasonable delays”, among many issues encountered during his one-month stay in Nigeria.
This came after he had spent four weeks in Lagos, Nigeria without any production related to the ‘knockout’ stage of the competition.
