Big turnout for annual friendly marathon
A big crowd of running enthusiasts, including active athletes and all those interested in running gathered at Persévérance during the weekend to take part in the annual Seychelles-India Day Eco-friendly marathon to celebrate friendship between the two countries.
The event, hosted by the Seychelles-India Day's executive was this year sponsored by Dr Murthy's Medical and Gastro Clinic and gathered runners who competed in four races which were divided into 13 categories.
Saturday’s event started with 500m races for girls and boys under 6 years old, followed by 1km race for children under 10 years old. There were two more races, precisely 5km and 10km.
From the start, runners ran towards Anse Etoile on the new road and upon covering 2.5km, those running 5km turned and ran back to finish where they began, while those running the 10km kept running until the 5km mark which was at the Kreolfleurage Parfums at North East Point.
