GSP 7S secured a 7-wicket win over GSP 7S A by DLS method
In a thrilling encounter at the Perseverance ground, Victoria, GSP 7S emerged victorious against GSP 7S A, in the highly anticipated Seychelles Cricket Association (SCA) National Championship division one, or the Super 10 clash.
The atch was ultimately decided by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method due to the rain interruptions.
Opting to field first after winning the toss, GSP 7S invited GSP 7S A to bat. Despite a shaky start, GSP 7S A managed to build modest partnerships, with Vijayna Viarakannu's 36 runs and Sabarianthan V’s unbeaten 16 runs being the highlights.
Batting first, GSP 7S A got off to a shaky start, as they lost their first wicket at 18 runs, but they managed to build modest partnerships of 35 and 25 runs for the second and third wickets respectively.
However, a flurry of quick wickets in the middle overs put them on the back foot.
Showing resilience, they rallied again, forging an important partnership of 21 runs for the 8th wicket.
At the end of their allotted 20 overs, GSP 7S A posted a total of 124 for the loss of 8 wickets.
GSP 7S bowlers delivered challenging spells, restricting the opponents to 124 for 8 wickets in 20 overs.
Babu was exceptional, picking up 3 wickets for 13 runs, while Kelvin Deso contributed with 2 wickets for 20 runs.
In pursuit of the target, GSP 7S faced early setbacks, losing crucial wickets early on.
However, a remarkable unbeaten partnership of 66 runs for the 4th wicket revived their hopes.
At 14.4 overs, with the score at 89 for 3 wickets, rain interrupted the play, causing an extended delay.
Due to the persistent downpour, the match officials had no choice but to implement the DLS method.
As per DLS method GSP 7S emerged victorious by 7 wickets, securing a commanding win in this rain-interrupted showdown.
Player of the Match, Babu, showcased an outstanding all-round performance with the ball and bat, earning him well-deserved accolades.
