The winners of the first Mini Maz Millions lottery gathered at the Treasure Cove hotel, Bel Ombre on Friday to receive their prizes.

As usual it was a Mini Maz family affair where both chief executive officers – Alan Laporte and Marie-France MacGregor – welcomed their new family members (the winners) in a small reception.

But before handing over the cheques, Mrs MacGregor addressed some of the remarks her company has been receiving lately.

“Maz Millions thanks all of you who bought a ticket and are here today to receive your reward. You might have heard that something strange happened. The same number that won the last Maz Millions won the Mini Maz Millions too! When we start a new lottery we always start with number zero and if a series of numbers come out a second time, this is completely out of our control. It is the public who are asked to come forward to draw the numbers. I can assure you that there is no trick whatsoever. I have been organising lotteries for the last ten years and I said to myself it is high time for people to stop getting a cooker or a fridge as prizes. So my brother and I got together to create Maz Millions Lottery. Regardless the negative comments some people still give us, let me stress on the fact that Maz Millions is a clean lottery and we will carry on as many people come to us, encouraging us.”

Mrs MacGregor said that many people love the Mini Maz and it will be twice a year and the big Maz Millions also will be twice a year.

“Now Maz Millions invested in two international lotteries; if they work well, then Seychellois will benefit from more lotteries. In Maz Millions we have a team who work really hard to make things better. Even the people who sell the lottery tickets receive a cash reward.”

Bibianna Bristol, from Pascal Village, is the star prize winner of R1.5 million. She shared her happiness with us and said that she loves buying lottery tickets, plays bingo and even gamble at the Casino.

“I sometimes win with Interlotto but never from a lottery ticket. I was quite shocked and surprised. I have not decided yet what to do with the money and I will go back to the same lady from whom I bought the ticket.”

Steven Esparon from Anse Royale won the third prize. “I usually buy my tickets but this time my wife surprised me with one. It was my daughter who told me I won something on Sunday night and I thought she was joking. My daughter has a small business and I intend to help her to expand.”

The youngest winner for the first Mini Maz Millions is Zahra Madeleine from Pointe Larue. She is only in P3 and won R80,000.

“My father bought the ticket for me and now I will put all the money in the bank,” she told us shyly.

All the winners came with their family members for a celebration with all the Maz Millions staff.

The next family fun time will be on December 30 for the MAZ MILLION R5 million draw!
