Minister Radegonde welcomes Mr Attiya to the Maison Quéau de Quinssy

The ambassador-designate of Egypt to Seychelles, Wael M. Nasr Eldin M. Attiya, has discussed the possibility of fortifying cooperation between Seychelles and his country with the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde.

The two held discussions at Maison Quéau de Quinssy on Monday, on the eve of the ambassador-designate’s accreditation.

Minister Radegonde expressed that since Seychelles and Egypt established diplomatic relations, their cooperation has progressed steadily over the years.

“I am confident that we can contribute further to the deepening of our bonds of friendship, understanding and cooperation in key areas of interest,” he stated.

Both parties also agreed that signing a visa waiver agreement and bilateral air service agreement, will not only facilitate air travel through improved connectivity but assist in promoting trade and investment between the two peoples.

Other topics discussed were the potential for growth and shared prosperity for capacity building, training and sharing of expertise in the fields of health, irrigation and tourism.

“I believe that during your tenure as ambassador, we will work together to unlock these possibilities,” added the minister.

Ambassador-designate Attiya gave his assurance to expedite the procedures and logistics for Seychellois who are awarded bilateral scholarship and short-term training opportunities in Egypt and consider the possibility of nominating an honorary consul for Egypt in Seychelles.

Minister Radegonde concluded the discussions by conveying his gratitude to the government of Egypt for granting Ambassador Conrad Mederic the opportunity to visit the Seychellois prisoners on his upcoming visit to Egypt.
