Seychelles Tamil Mandram makes donations to English River secondary

The formal handover of the donations

The Seychelles Tamil Mandram has generously donated a fridge and a laminator machine to the English River secondary school.

This contribution took place during the Teachers' Day assembly on Thursday afternoon, as a gesture of appreciation and respect for the school and its educators.

Seychelles Tamil Mandram, a language-focused organisation, conducts free Tamil classes on Sundays at the English River secondary school.

To express gratitude to the school and to honour its teachers, the organisation identified the school's needs and made a contribution during the Teachers' Day celebrations.

The donation was warmly received by Marie-Anne Payet, the deputy Head Teacher of the school.

Mr Subramanian, chairman of Seychelles Tamil Mandram, expressed his gratitude to the English River school management for providing a venue for the free classes.

He emphasised that this collaboration has had a significant positive impact on many children from various nationalities who were eager to learn Tamil.

Additionally, due to the school's proximity to the bus terminus, attendance has steadily increased over the years.

Mr Subramanian proudly stated that over the past decade, more than 150 students have benefited from the Tamil classes organised by Seychelles Tamil Mandram.
