Anse Royale secondary and Baie Ste Anne primary schools are the grand winners of the second ‘Lospitalite Lafyerte Sesel’ quiz competition.

The finals were held on Tuesday last week at the Docklands auditorium.

Organised by the Tourism department as part of activities for Tourism Week, this edition garnered enthusiastic participation from 18 primary schools and 10 secondary schools across Seychelles.

The competition primarily featured schools with existing 'Lospitalite' school clubs, and it kicked off in August with a series of competitions among the participating institutions.

For the primary level, Baie Ste Anne won the final against Anse Etoile. The third place went to Grand Anse Praslin.

For the secondary level, Anse Royale won against Belonie and the third place went to Beau Vallon secondary.

The quiz had four rounds of 12 questions and covered diverse subjects including tourism, culture and heritage, endemics and visual and multi-choice round.

The director general for Destination Planning and Development, Paul Lebon, expressed his heartwarming satisfaction at the increased participation from schools this year.

He commended the engaged and collaborative spirit of the participants.

“Everything went well during the competition and we were surprised by the knowledge of the children. The participants were fully engaged and they worked as a team. The idea was to have the students learn more about our history, our culture and about the tourism industry in general. We hope that they choose Seychelles Tourism Academy to start their career path.”

Mr Lebon urges children to learn more about Seychelles itself and the Tourism department is working with a tertiary education centre and will soon propose a course to help people with the history of Seychelles and about nature among others.

The introduction of ‘Lospitalite tourism clubs’ in schools has been a key moment in the evolution of the country’s tourism industry in Seychelles. These clubs serve as a powerful network for imparting the right values and knowledge to children from a young age, ensuring a bright and sustainable future for the country's vital tourism sector.
