International Day for Older Persons |30 September 2023
LDS urges everyone to spend time with their elders
“On the occasion of the International Day for Older Persons celebrated on October 1, Linyon Demokratik Seselwa (LDS) wants to reaffirm its commitment to providing all Seychellois senior citizens with the necessary support and services.
“Our party recognises the important contribution made by the senior citizens. This generation, which is our parents and grandparents, have held our hands and protected us. They have
cared for and loved us. Now it is our turn to return the favours and make their senior years a beautiful experience.
“Through our work as a political party, LDS is committed to influencing both the executive and
legislative branches of government to push for the right policies and legal framework on matters that affect the lives of older people.
“LDS also encourages the increased participation of the senior citizens in community life and civil society. Your participation can influence the government’s policy framework, its action plan and decision making on encouraging the elderly people to practice active living.
“As we celebrate this day, let us thank God for giving us the protection and love of our elders. Without devotion to their own lives, their families, community and country, Seychelles would not have achieved so much in such a short time of its history.
“LDS encourages everyone to spend time with their elderly, to love them and care for them on this important day.
“We wish all the senior citizens a blessed and happy International Day of Older Persons.”
