Singer Sheila Paul passes away |21 September 2023
The local music industry yesterday lost one of its daughters with the passing away of singer Sheila Paul after losing her battle against cancer.
The daughter of legendary singer the late Raymond Lebon, Sheila started her career in 1994, teaming up with Winsel ‘Sly’ Pothin forming the duo Ladylike which instantly rose to success with their first album, entitled ‘Lekel’.
Sheila later started her own musical venture, reproducing the songs of his late father, re-mastering some of his greatest hits from the 80s, while coming up with some compositions of her own, releasing several albums.
Until recently a lecturer at the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA), Sheila full of life and energy, despite of her illness, maintained high hopes that she would be healed.
Last year, a group of artists and musician friends, led by Sly with the help of Mervin Camille and Joseph Sinon, hosted a charity concert at the Buckinarms Palace nightclub, at Au Cap, in support of the singer, contributing towards expenses for her overseas treatment.
Those who took the stage included Cus Mun, Ras Ricky, Jilbert Freminot, Michelle Marengo, Antoinette Dodin, Alderick Bristol, Katty Melanie, Mayos, Philippe Toussaint, Michel Desnousse and Gatto.
Seychelles NATION expresses its heartfelt condolences to Sheila’s family and friends.
