Seychelles airport recognised for   excellence in customer experience

Mr Albert accepting the accreditation certificate

The Seychelles International Airport (SIA) has achieved Level 1 Passenger Experience Accreditation by the Airport Council International (ACI), the global body for airports.

This was announced on Wednesday evening at the ACI Customer Experience Global Summit in Incheon, South Korea. The accreditation was presented to Garry Albert, the chief executive of the Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority (SCAA) which manages the Seychelles’ International Airport.

The ACI Airport customer accreditation programme is the first worldwide customer experience management accreditation, designed specifically for the airport industry and dedicated to ACI member airports.

Its key objective is to help airports improve their practices to promote a direct positive impact on customer satisfaction, and to assist airports to meet their customers’ ever evolving expectations.

Following the announcement, the head of state, President Wavel Ramkalawan, has sent a message of congratulations to the SCAA. “This is a great achievement as many airports have not reached this level. The rapid processing of arriving passengers through the Seychelles Electronic Border System has greatly contributed to this award.”

President Ramkalawan stated, “As we continue to aim for the highest standards, I call on everyone to give of their very best to give both visitors and locals the best experience at our airport. As we plan our new terminal, I am hopeful we will deliver a higher standard of service.”

Over 500 delegates were present at the summit including government officials, airport and aviation executives, and customer experience experts, and they took part in workshop and forum.

A total of 14 Summit sessions with over 45 C-suite speakers covered timely topics such as leadership, the role of IT, the human experience, airport groups, revenue generation and travel retail.

During Wednesday’s events some 144 Airport Service Quality (ASQ) Awards were presented to 75 airports.

ACI World’s annual ASQ Awards recognise airport excellence in customer experience worldwide based on data from ASQ’s renowned Departures and Arrivals Surveys.

It was also announced that the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport will host the 2024 ACI Customer Experience Global Summit.
