Two bronze medals from Michael Andrew and Alisha Gertrude in long jump
Team Seychelles yesterday won two more bronze medals in handisports athletics at the ongoing 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games in Madagascar, courtesy of Michael Andrew and Alisha Gertrude in long jump.
Andrew leaped 5.25m to finish third, collecting his second bronze medal at the Games, after also finishing third in the 100m race in 12.39 seconds.
As for Gertrude, she finished third with a performance of 3.78m which is also her personal best.
It worth noting that Team Seychelles also won three silver medals in handisports, precisely from swimmer Frederick Gappy, along with Richard Sophola and Rosie Coralie in shot put.
Gappy finished second in the 50m freestyle, clocking 33.40 seconds, while Sophola and Coralie threw the shot put 8.15m and 7.02m respectively to win a silver medal apiece.
