Seychellois badminton players advance further |01 September 2023
Team Seychelles’ badminton players yesterday booked their place in five quarterfinals of the ongoing Indian Ocean Islands Games taking place at the Zone Expo Forello, Tanjombato, in Madagascar. Alisen Camille will be involved in three quarterfinal matches.
In the women’s singles, Alisen Camille booked her ticket for the quarterfinal with a 2-0 win over Marguerite de Becdelievre from Mayotte.
Partnering with Juliette Waye-Hive in the women’s doubles, the duo won their match 2-0 over Fenitra Arjesa and Asminah Razafiaimalala of Madagascar to reach the quarterfinal. Another Seychelles women’s doubles team made up of Jessy Mancienne and Sejal Shah had the better of Indjila Abanour and Audrey Boihus from Mayotte to book their place in the quarterfinal.
In the men’s doubles, Steve Malcouzane and Aaron Malcouzane won their match 2-0 against Matthieu Gouzou and Emmanuel Rozand for a place in the quarterfinal. Camille was also in action in the mixed doubles with partner Jie Luo and they beat Loïc Bertil and Virginie Testan from Reunion 2-0.
Aurelie Jean-Louis competing in the women’s singles lost 0-2 to Aishath Rasheed from Maldives, while Jakim Renuad, who won his men’s single match on Tuesday against Guillaume Bourel from Mayotte, was beaten 2-0 by Lucas Douce from Mauritius yesterday.
In the men’s doubles, Renaud and Luo lost 0-2 to Thibaud Couguoille and Loïc Nanicaodin from Mauritius.
