Jose Sinon shows support to badminton team
Jose Sinon, a former badminton player who also got the chance to represent Seychelles in international competitions, has sponsored the country’s badminton team who are taking part in the 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games which start today in Madagascar.
Owner of Jo’s kafe, Mr Sinon showed his support for the team by donating T-shirts to all members of the squad. The presentation ceremony took place on Tuesday afternoon at the La Promenade Gymnasium in the presence of Seychelles Badminton Association chairman Michel Bau and other members.
Speaking to Sports NATION, Mr Sinon said this small gesture is proof of his passion and good memories of the sport. “I grew up in badminton and my wife also played badminton. We were motivated to make this gesture to help the players and boost their morale,” said Mr Sinon.
Mr Sinon sponsored a pair of dry kit T-shirt for all players on the country’s badminton team.
He also mentioned that his generous gesture was warmly welcomed by the players and officials. “Frankly, they were a bit shocked because I had not been to the badminton gym for a long time,” added Mr Sinon.
He has wished the badminton squad and Team Seychelles good luck at the games, adding he hopes for a good performance from the local athletes.
“Seychelles’ badminton was once a powerhouse as the players won medals not only at the IOIG but at other international competitions. I would like to see the sport rediscover its past glory,” mentioned Mr Sinon.
