Cabinet denounces the exhumation of graves |10 August 2023

•     State will pay for the two person’s reburial

Cabinet has denounced the exhumation of two graves in the Takamaka cemetery reported by the Seychelles Police on Tuesday, August 8, 2023.

In its weekly meeting yesterday, cabinet condemned the deplorable acts stating that burial sites should be respected by everyone at all times.

In a communique issued yesterday, cabinet stated “at a time when the families are still grieving the passing of their loved ones, such inhumane actions are unacceptable in our culture”.

Cabinet presented its condolences and solidarity with the two families and has approved that government will pay for the reburial of those two persons.

The police have been instructed to investigate the case as a matter of urgency.
