Local firm Taylor Smith Naval Services Limited donates to President’s Village |27 July 2023
The President’s Village in Port Glaud has received a donation from local company Taylor Smith Naval Services Limited, which included TV sets, and other electrical devices, stationery for school as well as money for the purchase of clothing.
This was during a short ceremony at the residence yesterday afternoon, on the occasion of the fifth year anniversary of Sustainable Power Solution (SPS), one of the company’s subsidiaries.
When addressing the residents and staff, Veronique Herminie, the chief executive of Taylor Smith Naval Services Limited, called on the children to take very good care of the equipment, to ensure they last and benefit them for a long time.
“We are delighted to be here today to be among you and to make this donation. We hope you can take very good care of the television sets, which are very pricey,” she said.
This was also echoed by Yasmin Umarji, the chief executive of the National Council for Children (NCC) which manages the President’s Village.
She welcomed the donation and thanked the company for supporting the children.
She said the company has already expressed interest to return to the village for a visit and she has welcomed them, stating it will be good to interact with the children, some of whom have a deep passion for the sea and would like to work in the marine sector when they grow up.
President’s Village houses 28 children aged from two to 16 years old, the majority of them are boys.
As a small token of appreciation, a resident donated one of his drawings to Mrs Herminie, on behalf of his colleagues.
