Beau Vallon primary marks 25th anniversary with new school motto |21 June 2023
- Recognises staff and outstanding students
The Beau Vallon primary school has celebrated its 25th anniversary since its official opening by former President Danny Faure on June 1, 1998, under the leadership of Marina Cetoupe as head teacher.
Present for the ceremony were the Minister for Education, Dr Justin Valentin; elected member of the National Assembly for neighbouring district Bel Ombre, Honourable Sandy Arrisol; the council chairperson, Justin Freminot; and other invited guests.
Among those to address the guests was the principal secretary for Education Services, Merna Eulentin, who thanked all the teachers who have worked at the school, saying they are all owed a depth of gratitude for being devoted teachers who day in and day out strive to make a difference in the lives of the young minds.
“Your devotion and commitment are the driving force behind the success of this school. It should be highlighted that education is not a solitary endeavour; it thrives on collaboration and partnership,” she said.
This was echoed by the current head teacher, Julianna Agathine, who said the school had come a long way in its 25-year development and has grown so much.
She commended the staff and students who have worked hard throughout the years.
Mrs Agathine also revealed the motto for the 25th anniversary of the school; ‘The school that just keeps getting better’.
“I have chosen this to encapsulate the essence of the school’s accomplishments, visions and core values,” she explained.
The ceremony proceeded with the presentation of a token of appreciation to Minister Valentin, followed by the award presentation to outstanding teachers and the top three Primary 6 scorers in the 2022 national exams. The awardees were Kiara Morel as the overall best academic achiever, followed by Dynn Anthony in second position and Elam Lesperance in third position.
The ceremony ended with the official opening of the school's SADECO trail, which will serve as an educational site, allowing students to learn about various animals and species of medicinal plants.
Yesterday’s ceremony also included several performances by students and teachers.
