WIRTZ … Hammer throw gold medallist

Gold for Don Wirtz in hammer

Hammer thrower Don Wirtz has given Seychelles its first medal at the ongoing Mauritius U-20 Pepsi Black National Championships at the Maryse Justin Stadium, in Réduit, Mauritius.

Wirtz threw a distance of 52m which is also his personal best (PB) to win the gold medal.

The other local athletes at the competition are  Naomi Toussaint (100m), Leah Pool (200m, 400m), Chloé Joubert (triple jump), Emmanuella Larue (100m, 200m), Mary Dubel (400m), Angela Calva (100m, 200m), Jamelah Gonsalves (400m), Shane Fred (400m), Jerold Alexis (100m, 200m) and  Neil Azemia (400m).

They are being accompanied by coaches Giovanni Fanny and Joseph Adam, while Monica Samson is the team manager.

The team are expected back in the country on June 26.
