Seychelles United Movement (SUM) has submitted its application to be registered as a new political party.
SUM, led by Marco Francis, presented its document to the Electoral Commission at its headquarters in Victoria yesterday.
Speaking to Seychelles NATION, Mr Francis said SUM is a group of citizens who want to bring about changes in the country and if approved, the party will bring forth several issues related to the economy and access to finance, ease of doing business, as well as social issues.
He said they have been informed by the electoral commission that the process to register will take two and a half months.
Mr Francis was accompanied by SUM’s secretary general, Edward Anacoura, and treasurer, Salim Mathieu.
According to the Political Parties (Registration and Regulation) Act, the Electoral Commission has to conduct legal formalities for registration as per the law’s requirements, which include both internal and external procedures.
