Absa Seychelles organised an exhilarating sports day event last Saturday at the picturesque Cap Lazare. The event witnessed exceptional athleticism, friendly competition, and loads of fun as teams battled it out in a wide range of exciting activities.

The teams were The Pink Panthers, The Red Stars, Orange Fever, and the Burgundy Brigade.

Each team showcased incredible teamwork, dedication, and a competitive spirit throughout the day; and the atmosphere was electric with enthusiastic cheers and laughter echoing across the vibrant grounds of Cap Lazare.

Absa Seychelles' sports day at Cap Lazare was a spectacular display of athleticism, teamwork, and pure excitement.

The action-packed event kicked off with a mini marathon that put colleagues' endurance and determination to the test. The Burgundy Brigade blazed through the challenging 1.2-kilometre course, claiming a well-deserved first place.

As the day unfolded, those taking part also embarked on a treasure hunt that led them through the stunning landscapes of Cap Lazare. Giant tortoises, ducks, and peacocks added a touch of wonder to the adventure, and the treasure hunt culminated in a heart-pounding "capture the flag" moment, igniting the competitive spirit of the teams.

Emerging victorious in this thrilling quest were the Red Stars, leaving an indelible mark on the event and fueling the flames of competition within all the contestants.

Next up was the intense three-a-side beach volleyball competition, where teams showcased their skills, agility, and strategic plays. Spectators were treated to jaw-dropping dives, powerful spikes and saves, making it a definite highlight of the event. The Pink Panthers soared to victory in this electrifying competition.

The dance challenge added an explosion of creativity and coordination to the festivities, with each team re-adapting the Jerusalema dance in their unique style. The Burgundy Brigade shone brightest, captivating the crowd with their impeccable choreography, stage presence, and unwavering dedication, securing first place. The Dance Challenge showcased the power of music and movement in fostering unity and self-expression, leaving participants and spectators uplifted by the outstanding performances.

The classic sack and egg and spoon race brought back fond memories as participants hopped their way to the finish line.

Laughter filled the air as both participants and onlookers reveled in the atmosphere created by this timeless activity.

In a playful twist, the hoopla activity had colleagues engaged in a lighthearted game of "catch," as hula hoops were thrown to encircle their teammates. Hilarious moments of entanglement and laughter ensued, adding an extra dose of merriment to the excitement-packed day.

Undoubtedly, the obstacle race was a highlight that pushed participants to their limits. Agility, coordination, and mental prowess were tested as they maneuvered through tyres and sticks, followed by a captivating canoe race and swimming challenge. The Pink Panthers demonstrated exceptional skills, conquering each obstacle with determination and claiming a well-deserved victory.

And as the finale, energy levels soared during the fiercely contested tug-of-war, where teams showcased their strength and determination. It was an inspiring display of teamwork and unity as each team fiercely pulled to claim victory. Ultimately, Orange Fever emerged triumphant, leaving a lasting impression with their strength and coordination.

"The Absa Seychelles sports day was an amazing showcase of our colleagues’ dedication, team spirit, and passion for healthy competition. It was a delight to witness the enthusiasm and camaraderie displayed by all the teams,” said Nazim Mahmood, managing director of Absa Seychelles.

At the end of a day filled with fierce but friendly competition, the Pink Panthers emerged victorious, claiming the overall first place. The Burgundy Brigade secured second place, closely followed by the Orange Fever team, who took third place overall.

“All teams were hyped for the event, having one goal in mind, pumping victory through their veins for the great win as losing was not an option. Chapeau to the organisers,” she added.
