Football: Seychelles Schools Premier League update |11 May 2023
Plaisance, Mont Fleuri neck-and-neck
- La Digue dominate Praslin in weekend matches
Now in the sixth week of the Seychelles Schools’ Premier League, the boys’ Plaisance team (Liverpool) and Mont Fleuri (Tottenham) are engaged in a fierce battle for the top spot on the table, with both teams locked in a neck-and-neck race, boasting nine points each.
Last week’s games
Last Tuesday on the Astro Turf field, the Anse Boileau boys’ team, wearing the colours of West Ham, put up an impressive display, securing a 7-4 victory over French School (Nottingham Forest), one of the league’s new entrants.
French School took to the field again last Thursday to play against the Belonie team (Manchester City). Despite their best efforts for the win, Belonie came out victorious with a 2-1 win.
Meanwhile on La Digue
While they may not be part of the Schools’ Premier League on Mahe, La Digue and Praslin are still very much in the game. Last weekend, the girls’ teams from Vijay International School Praslin, proudly wearing their Newcastle FC kits, and the boys’ team from Praslin Secondary School (Brighton) travelled to La Digue to face off against the Norwich City school teams.
The Praslin Vijay girls’ team put on a good fight but could not outmatch the La Digue girls’ team, who emerged victorious with a 15-0 win. Similarly, the boys’ team from La Digue dominated their game, securing a 2-0 win over the Praslin Secondary boys’ team.
