Beach Soccer: Guinness Night Football – 5-a-side tournament   |08 May 2023

Bringing the unexpected intensity and vibrancy to football

Despite being commonly known for its rugby partnerships like the Six Nations in Europe, it is a common trend that Guinness and football go hand in hand across Africa, where it has been enjoyed for decades, alongside the thrill for football.

To incorporate the joy of football with a campaign that let fans see, taste, and play the game like never before, Diageo through Seychelles Breweries, in collaboration with the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF) is launching the first ever Guinness Football Night in Seychelles.

The competition, a five-a-side beach football tournament which will take place at the Roche Caïman Beach Football Arena over three weekends, will be the ideal occasion to unearth some of the finest ballers and grassroots of talents Seychelles has to offer, while allowing the fans of the islands’ favourite stout to network and unwind through highlighted culture and music.

The series of events will also bring the unexpected to football with a multi sensory explosion of colour and character full of intensity and vibrancy, through an extravaganza of night time football matches.

Round one of the competition will take place on the weekend of May 19-20, while the second round will be played the following weekend (May 26-27).

The semifinals have been scheduled for Friday June 2, with the final on the next day.

During matches there will be open bars, food stalls (cash) and fan zones, while on the final day there will be a musical show featuring four top local artists.

Teams can register up to 15 players and registration forms can be collected at the SFF headquarters at Maison Football.

The deadline for registration is May 12.

The event is a well-established one across the continent, where it has brought the opportunity to enjoy a range of diverse, immersive experiences like never before, where football lovers have the opportunity to take part in activities other than playing outside in the dark in colourful neon t-shirts to live music entertainment.

The first Guinness Night Football was held in Uganda and the inaugural programme in the country came to a thrilling conclusion on December 7 during a memorable night in Kampala, before moving to Cameroon, where their inaugural programme came to a glittering climax on January 11 in Douala.
