Seychelles lose first match 0-1 to Bangladesh

Seychelles’ men’s senior national team lost their first mat

ch 0-1 to Bangladesh in the Fédération Internationale de Football Association tier-1 international friendly matches on Saturday at the Sylhet District Stadium in Rekabi Bazar, Bangladesh after previously drawing their two matches at international competition level.

Bangladesh’s only goal on Saturday came in the 43rd minute courtesy of Tariq Raihan Kazi who was in the right position to connect to a deflecting header from Seychelles defender Brandon Molle, following a free-kick by Bangladesh captain Jamal Bhuyan.

The second match between the two teams is expected to take place tomorrow.

The Bangladesh trip is the team’s first international competition this year and it forms part of their preparation for the 11th Indian Ocean Islands Games 2023 scheduled to take place in Madagascar from August 23 to September 3, 2023.

The trip has been made possible with help from the National Sports Council (NSC) as part of IOIG preparation and the Seychelles Football Federation (SFF), and the Bangladesh Football Federation which is bearing some of the local costs in Bangladesh.

The 23 selected players are from St Michel (6), Foresters (4), St Louis (2), LightStars (1), Bel Air (2), Anse Reunion (1), and Bazar Brothers( 2). There are also two foreign-based players from the United Kingdom, namely Michael Mancienne from Burton Albion and Daryl Louis from Abingdon United.
