Air Seychelles’ IOSA certification renewed |24 February 2023
Air Seychelles has successfully passed and received its IOSA Renewal Certification this year, a press release from the airline announced yesterday.
This marks the tenth time the carrier has successfully achieved this renewal.
The national carrier’s first certification was obtained in 2006.
The IATA Operational Safety Audit (IOSA) Programme is an internationally recognised and accepted evaluation system designed to assess the operational management and control systems of an airline.
The audit creates a standard that is comparable on a world-wide basis, enabling and maximising the joint use of audit reports.
Held once every two years, the intensely rigorous and comprehensive audit was conducted in August 2022 and was the first onsite renewal since the Covid-19 pandemic when it was being done remotely in adherence to health guidelines.
Commenting on the national carrier’s re-certification, acting chief executive Sandy Benoiton said: “Safety remains our top priority at Air Seychelles, and this renewed certification is testament to our dedication and continuous efforts to conform to the industry standards. My gratitude goes to my employees for their commitment to the security of our operations.”
The Seychelles national carrier has been flying for over 45 years. Wholly owned by the government of Seychelles, the carrier operates regionally from its home in Mahé to Tel Aviv, Johannesburg, Mumbai, Mauritius, Maldives, and Almaty with state of the art Airbus A320NEOs. Domestically the carrier operates up to 30 roundtrips a day to Praslin, the second largest island in the archipelago, along with various charters to other islands on its twin-otter fleet.
In 2022, Air Seychelles managed to retain the most coveted title of ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline’ at the 29th edition of the World Travel Awards as well as, ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline Business Class’, ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Cabin Crew’, and ‘Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline Lounge’.
