Former S5 students get results for post-secondary institutions |11 February 2023
Former secondary five (S5) students have finally received their selection result slips that tell them if they have been successful in getting into the professional centres of their choice.
Yesterday, the former students were able to collect their slips from their school and Seychelles NATION spoke to some anxious and ecstatic students from two different schools.
At Mont Fleuri secondary school, many students were still waiting for their slips in the lobby, but a few who had come in early, had already received theirs.
Dwayne Mathiot expressed his great relief after receiving his results. “I feel so happy right now, I have got accepted for my first choice which is A-Level (School of Advanced Level Studies) and I am really satisfied with my slip. I chose A-Levels because I would like to increase my knowledge in certain specific subjects such as Mathematics, Geography and French,” said Mathiot.
Shevelle Albert and Jheelal Choisy, two students from the same school, also shared their excitement upon getting their results. They have both been accepted at the Seychelles Tourism Academy (STA).
“I was so scared to open my selection slip, but I am so excited now because I got my first choice, STA, and I am honestly at a loss for words. I aspire to be a pastry chef and I am on the right track,” Shevelle shared.
Jheelal was extremely joyful and could not wait to share his good news. “I feel so proud of myself and I am ready to go in this school. Since my family is already in the domain of bar and restaurant it has already given me the vision of where I want to be,” he said.
At Plaisance secondary school we were greeted with shouts of excitement in the school grounds as students expressed their glee over their good news. Alejandro Cadeau was observed jumping with enthusiasm as he opened his slip.
“All the work I have put in has finally brought results, I got STA ‒ my first choice. I was not expecting to get my first choice which is why I was so shocked, because some of my friends did not get their first choice and it saddens me and I thought it would be the same for me,” he said.
For Jerius Anacoura, another ex-student of Plaisance school, although he had not officially opened his slip because he wanted his mother to do the honours, he had taken a little peak through the sides. He was filled with excitement mixed with anticipation.
“I feel so proud honestly that I got my first choice. I did not have any doubt but the suspense was too much so I had to peak. I’m bringing my paper to my mom to open it as I want to see her excitement,” he told Seychelles NATION.
Meanwhile, for those who have not been successful, they can appeal at their respective school on Monday February 13 and the results will be known within a week, on Monday February 20.
