Three men rescued at sea |07 January 2023
Three crew members of a capsized boat were recovered by the Seychelles Coast Guard early yesterday morning.
They had left La Retraite for Anse à la Mouche late Thursday afternoon in a small boat which capsized after taking in water. The three men managed to swim and reach the shores of the closest Island, Ile Thérèse.
A search involving the Seychelles Coast Guard (SCG) fast response boats was initiated after the incident had been reported to the Coast Guard Maritime Operation Centre (MOC) late on Thursday January 5, 2023.
A Seychelles Air Force (SAF) aircraft was also deployed early yesterday morning. Fortunately, patrol boat Le Vigilant located the three men after they signaled for assistance.
They were found still in good shape and handed over to paramedics to be transported to the Seychelles Hospital for routine medical checks.
The Seychelles Coast Guard is calling on mariners and the public to exercise caution and inform the authorities on their movement given the existing adverse weather condition.
