As of May next year, tennis enthusiasts as well as kids who want to take up the sport will enjoy the comfort of the revamped courts at Roche Caïman, now that renovation works are scheduled to start in early January 2023.

The contract agreement for the renovation work was signed yesterday by the chief executive of the National Sports Council (NSC) Jean Larue on behalf of the government and Mehmet Saltik on behalf of Türkiye-based, Mekra Tennis Ltd which will carry out the work. This was done in a ceremony held at the Ocean Gate House, in the presence of executive members of the Seychelles Tennis Association (STA).

The project costing US $136,250 has been jointly sponsored by the Seychelles government and the International Tennis Federation (ITF).

On behalf of the STA, chairperson Fatime Kanté thanked the Seychelles government, the STA executive committee, the ITF and the Mekra Tennis Ltd for finally signing the project agreement, adding that it has been a long process.

As for Mr Saltik, he thanked the Seychelles government for the trust placed in the company and has promised to honour their agreement through state-of-the-art work.
