President Ramkalawan participates in series of events on the margins of US-Africa Leaders Summit |16 December 2022
While on mission in Washington DC, President Wavel Ramkalawan has on the sidelines of the main summit events also engaged in a series of networking opportunities and attended various events relevant to the Seychelles Agenda.
President Ramkalawan, accompanied by the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, Sylvestre Radegonde, on Tuesday evening attended a dinner reception hosted by the Speaker of the United States House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi, held in the Sanctuary Hall at the United States Capitol Hill.
The reception was held in honour of the US-Africa Leaders’ Summit and was attended by various African Heads of State and Government as well as key United States senior officials.
During his participation at the summit sessions, President Ramkalawan also met with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, John Kerry, who has been a staunch advocate for climate change and conservation actions.
Earlier in the afternoon on Wednesday, the President also participated in an Atlantic Council High-Level Interview moderated by the Director, Africa Centre, Senior Fellow, Europe Center, Former Minister and Ambassador of France, Amb. Rama Yade and Washington and UN Correspondent, The Africa Report/Jeune Afrique L’Intelligent, Julian Pecquet.
The President also met and interacted with various other African leaders while at the Summit at the Washington Convention Centre.
President Ramkalawan on Wednesday evening attended a dinner hosted by the United States President, Joe Biden, at the White House, which coincided with the US-Africa Leaders’ Summit currently being held in Washington DC.
