Publication of the printed Seychelles telephone directory ceased |16 December 2022

The Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT) would like to advise the public of the decision to remove the obligation for publication of the printed Seychelles Telephone Directory or phone book on telecommunication service providers.

The telecommunication service providers are still obliged to provide customers with telephone directory service and make available online or e-directory services.

The decision comes amid reduced interest and demand for the printed Seychelles Telephone Directory which was confirmed through a survey conducted by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).  Advancement in technology and changes in the behaviour of consumers, increased penetration and usage of broadband services via fixed and mobile access and the availability of directory information on the Internet may be the causes for the declining use of printed telephone directory services.

Customers will therefore continue to get access to telephone numbers by calling the directory enquiry services of their respective telecommunication service provider or by searching the online e-directories.
