20 participants graduate from business incubator training programme |15 December 2022
Twenty participants have successfully graduated from the business incubator training programme for the year 2022 and which was organised by Women in Action and Solidarity.
The graduation ceremony took place on Tuesday at the Citizens Engagement Platform (Ceps) headquarters, Orion Mall and there were three categories ‒ sewing, pastry and flower making.
Rosemary Elizabeth, founder of Women in Action and Solidarity (Waso), congratulated the participants who took the bold step to leave their comfort zone to learn something new.
“Waso is focused on the creation and development of a strong empowered network of Seychellois women of low income, limited skills, living in unfortunate circumstances. We have been through years helping women through empowerment programmes on health, social welfare, gender, economic empowerment/development entrepreneurship, etc. Today we want women to stand strong in our society and keep moving forward,” said Mrs Elizabeth.
She also announced that the new chairperson of Waso is Florence Monnaie and noted that on January 21, 2023, there will be a general meeting where all women should come with an idea on how they want to help Waso move forward.
The event was also attended by Ceps’ chief executive, Alvin Laurence, and he has called on women to come forward and put whatever they have learned in the courses into action.
“Mrs Elizabeth always has a dream and this is to see women in the forefront. Ceps also has the same vision and we invite more women to support Waso in its activities,” said Mr Laurence.
The participants also enjoyed the training programmes and some noted that before enrolling they did not have any idea about the things they have learned.
“Now we can proudly say we made it and we are capable of doing more stuff if we put our minds to it,” said a participant.
During the event, the participants also put up an exhibition showcasing their work and the guests present were able to taste the pastries they had made.
The accompanying photos show a group photograph of the participants after they had received their certificate as well as a display of some of the work they had produced during the training.
