“My priority is to promote tourism between Seychelles and South Korea” – Kang Seokhee
The new South Korean ambassador to Seychelles, Kang Seokhee, yesterday presented his credentials to President Ramkalawan at State House.
Meeting with the press after his accreditation, Ambassador Seokhee said that during his tenure, he will do his best to promote the relationship between Seychelles and South Korea, noting that the two countries have enjoyed friendly relations for the last 27 years.
He also shared that his priority, as he takes office, is to promote tourism between the two countries.
“Before Covid-19, 1500 Koreans were visiting the Seychelles and that stopped. I know we can do better and I am sure Koreans will like Seychelles as a visiting island and I will do my best to attract more visitors to your shores,” he said.
Ambassador Seokhee also noted that the two countries have great potentials mainly in tourism, trade and IT sector.
“We can help each other grow and also in terms of climate change issues, the Republic of Korea is making its contribution to the world and we would like to make more contributions globally. Korea is a unique country which has been transformed from a developing to a developed country. We have great potentials in developing technologies and we would like to work with the Seychelles in that regard.”
The Republic of Korea and Seychelles established diplomatic relations on January 29, 1995 and Ambassador Seokhee will be based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
