Ricky Vel and Gerry Lozaique men’s winners
- Hillary Nourrice and Angelique Adeline clinch women’s title
Faithful partners Ricky Vel and Gerry Lozaique are the men’s winners of the recent beach volleyball mini league hosted by the Seychelles Volleyball Federation, while the experienced duo of Hillary Nourrice and Angelique Adeline won the women’s title.
The competition which gathered eight men’s selections and four women’s teams was played over three weekends at the Roche Caïman Beach Soccer Arena.
The eight male selections were drawn in two pools of five for the preliminaries, with the top teams from each group qualifying for the super league, while the women’s teams battled in a two-round league.
In the group stage, Vel and Lozaique won all their three matches, collecting maximum nine points to finish ahead of second-placed Ryan Boniface and Francesco Joubert who collected six points from two wins and a loss.
In the other group, it was the duo of David Boniface and Jean-Phillipe Vidot who finished on top, also with maximum nine points from three wins out of three matches, finishing ahead of Henrico Ernesta and Jean-Paul Mellie who garnered six points from two wins and a loss in three matches played.
In the super league, Vel and Lozaique who competed under the name ‘Toulezour’, won all their three matches, collecting nine points to win the competition.
In their first match, Vel and Lozaïque defeated Ernesta and Mellie (H and M) 2-0 (21-15, 21-14), while in their second match they were victorious over Boniface and Joubert (Waves) 2-1 (21-15, 23-21, 15-11).
In their third and last match of the super league, Vel and Lozaïque were up against Vidot and Boniface (Neo Boys) and they once again emerged victorious 2-0 (21-13, 21-16).
With two wins and a loss, Mellie and Ernesta (H and M) finished second overall with six points, while Vidot and Boniface (Neo Boys) registered a win and two defeats to collect three points and finish third overall.
In the women’s competition, Nourrice and Adeline who competed under the name ‘Seygal’ dominated the two-round league, winning all their six matches to collect maximum 18 points.
Arsu, comprising Melissa Rambony and Edwige Kossenda-konwa, finished second overall on 15 points from five wins and a defeat.
