Major Allain Pierre promoted to Lieutenant Colonel
Seychelles Defence Forces (SDF) official Allain Pierre was officially promoted from the rank of Major to Lieutenant Colonel by President and Commander in Chief Wavel Ramkalawan on Saturday morning.
Lieutenant Colonel Pierre’s promotion was announced on October 14 while he was on overseas mission at the time.
President Ramkalawan also announced Lt Col. Pierre’s appointment as secretary of the new Seychelles Defence Council, headed by the Chief of Defence Forces Brigadier Michael Rosette, chaired by the Commander in Chief himself, and Vice-President Ahmed Afif.
“I wish to congratulate you on your achievement. I know that you have the knowledge and ability to serve the Seychelles Defence Forces. I wish you success as you take on the new responsibility,” President Ramkalawan said.
Lt Col. Pierre will be assigned to report to the office of the Chief of Staff of the Seychelles Defence Forces.
Over his 19 years on the force, Lt Col. Pierre has for the most part worked closely with the Chief of Staff, at the headquarters. He also served within the Coast Guard for a year, where he was responsible for human resources, and logistics.
“Even if I was not expecting the appointments and promotion, I have always been ready for a challenge related to my profession. I am not surprised at being given more responsibilities, I am ready for it,” he expressed.
He also during his career served as director of human resource, and information officer for the entire force.
Also, present to witness the promotion were Vice-President Afif; Brigadier Rosette; Chief of Staff Colonel Jean Attala; Land Force Commander Lt Col. Michael Hollanda; acting Commander of the Seychelles Coast Guard, Lt Col. David Arrisol; SDF person in charge of training, Lt Col. Didace Hoareau and Special Forces Unit Lt Col. Achille Mondon.
