Moscow International Beach Soccer Cup |12 October 2022

 Mixed Seychellois/Russian team to compete

A mixed team of Seychellois and Russian players will compete at the Moscow International Beach Soccer Cup to be held in the Russian capital from October 13-16.

The team, named Moutya Boys, are made up of three Russian and eight Seychellois players.

The Seychellois have been picked by the Seychelles Football Federation at the request of the Russian Football Federation who wants to give Seychellois players international exposure on account of the growing popularity of beach football here.

Moutya Boys are simply a group players put together for this competition and do not represent any country in particular.

“We have accepted the offer to give exposure to the Seychellois players selected which we believe will be helpful in the long run,” explained George Bibi, chief executive of the Seychelles Football Federation.

“This is simply a club put together for the occasion and does not engage the county or the national team,” he said.

The team’s main coach, manager and doctor are all Russians with only one Seychellois in the management team, Travis Julienne, who will act as assistant coach.

The eight Seychellois players are Hansel Coeur de Lion, Glenny Gamatis, Gillianno Moustache, Travis Cadeau, Damien Hoareau, Herrode Prosper, Davyan Hoareau and Elvyn Estico.

The Seychellois players and assistant coach were to leave for Moscow last night via Dubai.

The Moscow International Beach Soccer Cup will be held at the CSKA Arena in Moscow and will involve teams from different countries.

Russia will be represented by the Moscow clubs Spartak, Lokomotiv and CSKA.

The competition is intended to be a replacement for the Club World Cup, which was held in Moscow from 2019 to 2021. The current champions of the tournament are Lokomotiv Moscow, who defeated Portuguese Braga in the 2021 final.
