Andrew Hoareau finished with a total of 42 points to win the inaugural African Import Wholesalers golf competition played last Saturday at the Seychelles golf club in Anse Aux Pins.

A beautiful sunny day graced the 40 players who batted for all the lovely prizes up for grabs.

After the first nine holes, some outstanding scores were posted in the Stableford format, namely Mark Jeyasingh with 22 points, closely followed by Winsel Pothin on 21 points, and several others on 20 points respectively, so it would all come down to the final nine holes.

Gibran Rizvi came in with an extraordinary 25 points to add to his 16 from the first nine holes to give him a total of 41, being amongst the early players he took the club house lead till to the very end. But then Andrew Hoareau came in with a total of 42 points to take the win, relegating Gibran Rizvi into second place. Third was Winsel Pothin with 40 points, edging Mark Jeyasingh into fourth with the same score. Pothin got the edge as her second ninth holes were better than Jeyasingh’s.

The gross winner was William Weidner, most golf went to Bruce Horner, nearest the pin to Ken Zhou and longest drive to Damien Hoareau, and several members won from the lucky draw.

The Seychelles Golf Federation takes this opportunity to thank the African Import Wholesalers (AIW) team for their support.

The AIW management and team were present to give out the prizes. Alix Esparon and Theo Hansen have vouched for AIW’s continued sponsorship of this golf event in the years to come.
