The finals of the ‘Lospitalite Lafyerte Sesel’ quiz competitions will take place on September 28 at the STC conference room followed by presentation of prizes at the Labriz Gastro Lounge at Bel Ombre, on September 30.

Organised by the tourism department as part of activities for the tourism week, only schools boasting Lospitalite tourism clubs were eligible to take part and 13 primary and six secondary schools registered.

The finals in both the primary and secondary categories were known this week after the taking place of the semifinals.

In the primary final, Anse Royale will meet Baie Ste Anne, while Perseverance and Beau Vallon will clash in the secondary final.

Coordinator of the programme, Barbara Coopoosamy, shared that they had only one month to prepare and launch the first quiz programme for all tourism clubs in schools.

“This year 13 primary and six secondary schools registered for the quiz programme. As we launched it quite late, we expect to see a higher level of participation next year. There have been lots of enthusiasm from the participants,” noted Ms Coopoosamy.

This year saw the launch of the ‘Lospitalite tourism clubs’ in schools and this has been a key moment in the evolution of the country’s tourism industry as it demonstrates the need for us to adjust the national mindset to reflect the fact that our nation relies heavily on tourism and that there is no better way to achieve that than through a network of tourism clubs where children from a young age are taught the appropriate values to carry us forward.
