Confederation of African Football (Caf) Cup Volcan Club fail to make it to Mauritius for ‘home leg’ match with La Passe |17 September 2022
La Passe were to play their ‘home leg tie’ of the Total Energies Confederation of African Football (Caf) Champions League preliminary round against the Volcan Club de Moroni yesterday but the Comorian opponents failed to make it to Mauritius, forcing Caf to cancel the match.
According to reports, the Comorian team took a private jet, flew to Madagascar and are stuck there because they did not have landing rights.
Following the non-arrival of Volcan Club de Moroni in Mauritius yesterday, Caf issued a statement saying it will communicate with the teams in due time to request relevant documents.
It is to note that La Passe are expected to travel back home today after losing the away leg match 0-1 last Saturday at the Omnisports Stadium in Malouzini, the Comoros. Danny scored in the 15th minute of the encounter.
Local teams are playing their home leg matches in Mauritius because improvement work on Stad Linite that would allow it to be certified for international matches is yet to be undertaken.
