Absa Spring at Lemuria

The second event on the Seychelles Golf Federation’s National Order of Merit calendar, the Absa Bank Seychelles Spring Golf Open, was played last Saturday at the Lemuria golf club on Praslin.

In total, 44 federation players took part and even with some slight rain early in the day, the event was not dampened. Some very good scores were posted, namely by Seychelles’ newly graduated PGA professional golfer Gary Pouponneau, who shot a -1 on his home course.

The best lady on the day went to Marcella Andre, also a member of Lemuria golf club.

In the gross division where no handicap is implemented towards the scores, junior player Adrian Andrade was first with 34 points and Jerry Jean-Baptiste was second with 33 points.

For the handicapped nett division, first place went to Gibran Rizvi with an outstanding 38 points, second place was taken by Thomas Wilson on 36 points, and losing on the countback for third place was Luca Bertoletti, also on 36 points.

Some additional prizes were won by Damien Hoareau for best front 9 and Riaz Aumeeruddy for best back 9, both with 20pts; nearest the pin on hole 5 went to Arnaud Martin and nearest the pin on hole 17 went to Adrian Andrade.

The Seychelles Golf Federation takes this opportunity to thank Absa Bank Seychelles for the new main sponsorship partnership role it has undertaken with the federation, and the team at Lemuria Golf Club & Resort for hosting everyone on the day with their usual impeccable service and outstanding championship course.
